About me

My name is Travis Rooker, I am 16 years old, born in may of 2007 and today I'm proud to be studying Economy at SSHL in Sigtuna Sweden.

I also have a dream that I am aiming towards and that is to be a professional motorcycle racer and represent Sweden at the highest level. I have already begun, you join me 13 years in, let me explain...

My career so far...

I'm actually anglo Swedish, my mother is Swedish and father is English and I grew up in the swedish countryside. With a motor interested dad, this naturally meant that as soon as I could walk I also starting to ride a motorcycle... By the age of three I was already happily racing around the garden, through the woods and around the fields on an electric oset trials bike, probably the first in Sweden as we imported two from the UK. On these fun little bikes I would learn the joy of riding a motorcycle and the feeling of freedom and excitement that it gives you!

After learning the basics, throttle control, braking and cornering I then at around 7 years old during 2014 I started minimoto racing, an exciting sport for any age. That involves racing around go kart tracks on tiny but very fast 50cc two stroke bikes. This is where the competitive side kicked in and I loved the close action racing as well as the bonds and friendships that are built in the paddock and club - we are proud members of SMK Västerås.

From 2015 to 2021 we regularly practiced from April to October, Tuesday night and at the weekends in Hälla - Vasterås.

Minimoto Jnr A - 2016

Minimoto Jnr B - 2018

MiniGP Stock - 2020

2016-2022

I won my first ever race I entered and at the end of the 2016 season I finished 2nd in the Swedish Minimoto Junior A Championship.

3 years after starting racing I nailed the championship in a competitive Junior B class to become the Swedish champion in junior B in 2019.

Covid of course impacted us all and my sport was no different, but despite the restrictions we managed to keep on training and by the start of the 2020 race season. I was ready and able to take the next natural step, which is a minigp bike. It's a geared bike and these machines are bigger and heavier then the minimoto. They are about half to 3/4 the size of a regular bike and still race on the karting tracks. Dad imported a few kayo machines so I raced one of these in the stock class, one race took place in 2020 where I took a 2nd.

2021 was my first full race season in the Swedish Minigp Stock Championship.

With 4 rounds, I finished 8th overall. It was a difficult first season, full of crashes and I had a crash which ended in a broken collarbone while training, which took me out of racing for 1 round losing many points.

In 2022 I came 3rd overall in the minigp stock category despite only entering 3 of the 4 race weekends - I came second each race I finished.

Signed to Nordgren Racing 2023

During the last race in Södertälje I began talking to Henrik Nordgren of the famous Swedish racing team Nordgren Racing and by the end of 2022 I had signed to race with Nordgren during 2023 on one of his amazing Honda race machines - NSF250R (Moto3) -  these are full size fully blown racing bikes!

2023

In 2023 things really took off and another big step happened.

I took my road racing license in Gelleråsen as soon as the snow had gone and in May I took on my first big circuit, Anderstorp Raceway! Racing over this weekend I reached speeds of 210 kmh down the long straight. Racing in a professional team was a real eye opener and that weekend I learnt so much. I qualified 3rd for the first race, but unfortunately I had 2 crashes that weekend so points were low.

The rest of the season was amazing with fast learning and great results mixed with a few crashes, but luckily no injury. I was even fortunate enough to compete in my first international races in the summer. Racing at the legendary Assen TT circuit in the Netherlands and in Germany at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

I ended the season on the podium in 3rd place at the final round and overall I was 3rd in the swedish standard Moto3 class.

I had one more surprise for the year, after a conversation with a friend of my dads it came about that I could do a wildcard race in England. In the Team Green Ninja Cup on a different machine at the legendary Brands hatch Indy circuit and that's exactly what happened. We flew over, I made a practice day on friday and then 4 races over the weekend on a hired Kawasaki 400. I was very happy with the results, adapting fast with the bike and the circuit I finished with my best being a 3rd place in the Junior Class.

Later in 2023 I was selected for Svemo Challenge, this is a 3 year program organised by the Swedish Motorsport Federation that helps riders reach the top. I was the only rider selected from road racing! It was a goal of mine since the start of the season as I really focus on the athletic side to motorcycle racing and I am dedicated to training every day. In October I participated in my first meeting at Bosön in Stockholm and It was fantastic, already I feel that this has boosted my drive for the coming season.
